A Local Guide to Creative Hubs in Beijing: Part 1 — WE Hub

When we’re not guiding guests through hutongs or foodie streets, you’ll often find us riding our bikes, exploring tucked-away neighborhoods, or stumbling into a great coffee shop or creative space we didn’t expect. That’s what this new blog series is about:

Sharing the places that inspire us as locals and creators behind Our Beijing.

We’re calling it “A Local Guide to Creative Hubs in Beijing” — a growing collection of spaces we truly love and want to share with you. These places aren’t on every top 10 list, but they reflect the slower, more personal side of the city. Places where you can think, work, sip a great cup of coffee, and feel part of something local.

🏙 A Creative Haven in the Heart of Beijing

Tucked behind the trees just southeast of the Temple of Heaven, WE International Hub is a repurposed industrial space that’s quietly become one of Beijing’s most inspiring coworking and cultural venues. From the outside, it might look like an old machine house, but step inside and you’ll find bright open spaces, sleek design, and a welcoming blend of café culture, flexible workspaces, and event areas.

☕️ More Than Just a Workspace — A Creative Community

What makes WE Hub truly special is that it doesn’t exist in isolation. The entire courtyard has grown into a kind of creative community — full of quiet cafés, independent food spots, and little shops that make the area feel surprisingly warm and local. We’ve spent quite a few mornings and lazy afternoons here — sometimes working on new content, sometimes just recharging between meetings.

Here are three favorite spots we personally love inside the WE compound:

1. Yijie Wild Coffee × TINO(一介野生 Coffee×TINO)

This café is all about aesthetic calm and creative flow. Inside its concrete-and-wood space, you’ll often find freelancers sketching, or friends chatting over single-origin pour-overs.

Try this:

  • Hand-drip Yirgacheffe (耶加雪菲手冲) – a light, citrusy brew with floral notes
  • Dirty coffee (厚乳 dirty) – rich, cold milk layered with bold espresso
  • Toasted Croissant Sandwich – buttery, flaky, and filled with scrambled eggs and greens

📍 Fahuasi Street, Beijing Street No. 88

2. CABO Coffee

Understated from the outside, refined on the inside. CABO is minimal, with smooth lighting and thoughtfully selected beans — a favorite of locals who come for quality over hype.

Must-try menu:

  • Oat Milk Latte – creamy and mellow, one of the best in the area
  • Cold Brew with Orange Peel (橙皮冷萃) – refreshing and subtly sweet
  • Basque Cheesecake – rich and slightly torched, perfect pairing with coffee

📍 No.13 Beijing Street

3. WasPark

A creative brunch café with a splash of design flair, WasPark is great for a slow weekend meal or post-meeting unwind. Their semi-open courtyard adds a sense of leisure to every visit.

Recommended picks:

  • Espresso Tonic – sharp, citrusy, and ice-cold
  • Avocado Egg Toast – hearty and photogenic
  • Was Brunch Plate – includes scrambled eggs, sausage, greens, and artisan toast

📍 No. 91, Fahuasi Street, Bldg. 9-102
