Our Wild Great Wall and mountain river hike brings together a secluded Miyun valley and an unrestored ridgeline. Follow the water, climb into the mountains and discover a wilder side of Beijing.

Leave the city behind for a day of contrasts. First, the route follows a clear mountain river through a rocky valley. Then the trail climbs towards the Wild Great Wall, where old stone meets wide mountain views.
Your English-speaking adventure host handles the route and navigation. Along the way, there is time to take in the landscape and enjoy being out together. We adapt the route to your group, the heat and current water conditions.
A FULL MOUNTAIN DAY

This is a moderately challenging route on uneven ground. Expect wet feet, rocky sections and a climb out of the valley. You should be comfortable walking the full distance and following your host’s instructions near water.
Wear grippy footwear that can get wet. Dry socks, spare shoes and a waterproof bag for valuables are useful. A river plunge is optional and depends on suitable conditions; it is never required or guaranteed.
Prices are per private group and include central Beijing hotel pickup and return. Choose the band for your guest count.

Active older children with suitable fitness and confidence on wet, uneven ground may join. Tell us their ages and hiking experience so we can advise before you book.
No. Swimming is optional, subject to conditions and your host’s guidance. Tell us in advance if you are interested. The route itself may involve walking beside or through water.
River levels can change quickly. We may adjust the route or timing for rain, high water, heat or unsafe trail conditions. If the hike cannot run safely, we’ll discuss an alternative date or refund.
Yes. The adventure is for your own group of 1–20 guests. We do not mix your booking with other groups.
